Smith and Wesson Model 58 (top) compared to Model 13
Up for discussion today is the Smith and Wesson Model No. 58 Revolver, technically named the .41 Military and Police Revolver. This S&W large N frame revolver shoots the powerful Remington .41 Magnum cartridge.
Up for review today is the exciting Midland Backpack Shotgun. The Backpack Shotgun is a single shot, break action shotgun. Single shot shotguns and rifles remain popular with many shooters who appreciate their ruggedness and simplicity.
Recently, I wrote about the versatility and merits of the .357 Magnum Revolver and the .22LR Rifle. Today, I would like to expand that topic to include the most versatile long arm you can own: the 12 Gauge Shotgun.
Up for review today is the popular Ruger LCR (Light-Compact-Revolver). The LCR has a polymer grip frame mated with an aluminum or stainless steel frame, depending on the caliber. It is offered as the standard LCR with an enclosed hammer or the newer LCRx, with an exposed hammer. Ruger has expanded caliber options to now include .22LR, .22 Magnum, 9mm, .38 Special +P, . 327 Federal Magnum and the .357 Magnum. Cylinder capacity ranges from 5 to 8 rounds. Barrel lengths are offered in 1.87 inches with fixed sights and 3 inches with fully adjustable rear sights. The lightest version of the LCR is the .38 Special model weighing in at a light 13.5 ounces. Standard grips on the LCR are the outstanding Hogue Tamer Monogrip with a smaller “Boot Grip” also available.
Up for a quick review today is the Chesty Puller Holster System made by Simply Rugged Holsters. The System is a leather harness that allows you to carry the Simply Rugged Pancake Holster in the chest position, commonly referred to as a “Tanker Holster.” The system was designed by the Maker, while living in Alaska, where he needed a powerful handgun while fishing and hunting. The system positions the holster high on the center of your torso, keeping it above water and brush, yet still allowing quick access.
Today we are reviewing one of the most unique rifles available, the Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle. Originally designed as a U.S. Air Force Pilot Survival Rifle, the compact AR-7 is a semi-automatic Rifle, chambered in .22 LR, fed from an eight round detachable magazine. What makes this rifle so unique is it’s ability to break down into three basic components with the receiver and barrel stored within the ABS plastic stock. Taking the stored components to a fully functional rifle is quick and easy:
-Remove stock butt pad
-Remove receiver and barrel
-Screw receiver into stock
-Screw barrel into receiver
The stock compartment also accepts two additional eight round magazines.
Even though the high capacity semi automatic pistol reigns supreme in popularity today, I would like to present a case for the .357 Magnum Revolver, being the most versatile handgun you can own.
