The Ruger LCR: The Modern Revolver

Up for review today is the popular Ruger LCR (Light-Compact-Revolver). The LCR has a polymer grip frame mated with an aluminum or stainless steel frame, depending on the caliber. It is offered as the standard LCR with an enclosed hammer or the newer LCRx, with an exposed hammer. Ruger has expanded caliber options to now include .22LR, .22 Magnum, 9mm, .38 Special +P, . 327 Federal Magnum and the .357 Magnum. Cylinder capacity ranges from 5 to 8 rounds. Barrel lengths are offered in 1.87 inches with fixed sights and 3 inches with fully adjustable rear sights. The lightest version of the LCR is the .38 Special model weighing in at a light 13.5 ounces. Standard grips on the LCR are the outstanding Hogue Tamer Monogrip with a smaller “Boot Grip” also available.

Pallet Wood – Forget about making a crappy coffee table, burn it!

As you may be aware, we live in an urban environment. Firewood is at a premium and available conveniently at our grocery store and big box hardware store, but at a premium price. Big bucks for just a few 16″ pieces of lord knows what. mostly pine, but for the urban back yard burner, it’s premium fire wood.

This is half of our early alert team. Dedicated companions, great listeners, and always on alert. Him and his brother have kept our family guarded 24-7 unless we interrupt their natural instinct to stay on watch, for moments of petting, playing and emotional support. Then once we’re done with their affection, they go right back to work keeping watch.

Comprehensive First Aid Kit

Do not discount the importance of a portable and comprehensive First Aid Kit. I keep one in my Truck, stored in my Emergency Kit. It is small and compact, yet it has what I may need for minor medical emergencies. I keep the kit stored in a highly visible, red zippered pencil case. I have a attached a carabiner clip, so I can attach it to my belt, if needed.

Garden Update 3: Container garden day 23

Day 23, the trial dollar store container garden is doing well. We’ve had varied weather with the last week being extremely windy with temps around upper 50’s to mid 70’s.

Product Review: AR-7 Survival Rifle

Today we are reviewing one of the most unique rifles available, the Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle. Originally designed as a U.S. Air Force Pilot Survival Rifle, the compact AR-7 is a semi-automatic Rifle, chambered in .22 LR, fed from an eight round detachable magazine. What makes this rifle so unique is it’s ability to break down into three basic components with the receiver and barrel stored within the ABS plastic stock. Taking the stored components to a fully functional rifle is quick and easy:
-Remove stock butt pad
-Remove receiver and barrel
-Screw receiver into stock
-Screw barrel into receiver
The stock compartment also accepts two additional eight round magazines.

Tool Rescue – Give tools a new life with a little effort.

Rummaging thru the bowels of my box of spare tools I was in unshocked to find a set of rusted miscellaneous hand tools. It’s a shame when you have an abundance of stuff that someday you may need but are useless when you need them.
